Older Californian Traffic Safety Task Force
The Older Californian Traffic Safety Task Force was formed in response to the strategic framework [PDF 142KB] developed in 2002 by the California Task Force on Older Adults and Traffic Safety. Its goal is to implement the frameworks strategic recommendations and to create a statewide movement to improve safe mobility for Californias seniors.
This project began as a joint effort by the CIPPP and the California Highway Patrol (CHP). CIPPP coordinated the group and administered grant funds, and the CHP served as the lead agency on the task force. CHP assumed full responsibility for the task force in January 2005. Project Goals
A multidisciplinary team of public and private sector stakeholders comprises the task force and is critical to its effectiveness. These members also serve on one or more of seven task force workgroups that strive to implement specific strategic framework recommendations.
The project also works to build capacity among the lead agency, member organizations, and other California professionals to address senior safe mobility. It also aims to enhance the issues visibility. As part of this effort, CIPPP sponsored a symposium titled Aging and Safe Mobility in November 2004.
