Age-Related Driving Disorders Physician Education Module

Physicians play a critical role in preventing common health impairments from becoming functional limitations that affect driving safety in older adults. This training manual provides a one-hour in-person educational module that is designed to be delivered in staff training and grand rounds.  The course provides an overview of medical conditions, medications and other factors affecting driving, as well as assessment techniques, a plan for managing outcomes and DMV reporting information.  Funding for this curriculum was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.  Released 9/20/06.

Safe and Mobile Seniors: Risk Reduction and Prevention Strategies for Nurse Practitioners

Developed in collaboration with the California Association for Nurse Practitioners, this one-hour educational module provides comprehensive, easy to follow information to help identify impairments that may affect driving, and reduce risk through early prevention, intervention and rehabilitation. Detailed information about assessment tools, referral options, and California DMV reporting guidelines are provided.  Funding for this curriculum was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.  Released 9/20/06.
